Don Raffaé
The Camorra Boss

Prima pagina venti notizie
ventuno ingiustizie e lo Stato che fa
si costerna, s'indigna, s'impegna
poi getta la spugna con gran dignità.
Mi scervello. mi asciugo la fronte
per fortuna c'è chi mi risponde
a quell'uomo sceltissimo e immenso
io chiedo consenso, a don Raffaè.
Un galantuomo che tiene sei figli
ha chiesto una casa e ci danno consigli
l'assessore che Dio lo perdoni
'ndentro 'a roulotte ci alleva i visoni.
Voi vi basta una mossa, una voce
c'a `stu Cristo ci leva 'na croce.
Con rispetto, s'è fatto le tre
vulite 'a spremuta o vulite 'o caffè?
Ah, che bellu ccafè
sulo 'n carcere 'o sanno fà
co' 'a recetta ch'a Cicirinella
compagno di cella ci ha dato mammà
Ah, che bellu ccafè
sulo 'n carcere 'o sanno fà
co' 'a recetta di Cicirinella
compagno di cella precisa a mammà

`Cca ci sta l'inflazione, la svalutazione
e la borsa ce l'ha chi c'è l'ha
io non tengo compendio che chillo stipendio
è un ambo se sogno a papà
Aggiungete mia figlia Innocenza
vuò 'o marito, nun tiene pazienza
non vi chiedo la grazia pé 'mmè
vi faccio la barba o la fate da sè?
Voi tenete un cappotto cammello
che al maxi-processo eravate 'o cchiu bello,
un vestito gessato marrone
così ci è sembrato alla televisione
pe `ste nozze vi prego Eccellenza
mi prestasse pé ffare presenza
io già tengo le scarpe e 'o gilè
gradite 'o Campari o vulite 'o ccafè?

ma a'cca dinto voi state a pagà
e fora chist'atre se stanno a spassà.
A proposito, tengo nu frate
che da quindici anni sta disoccupato
chillo ha fatto cinquanta concorsi
novanta domande e duecento ricorsi
voi che date conforto e lavoro,
Eminenza, vi bacio e v'imploro
chillo dorme cu mamma e cu mme
che crema d'Arabia ch'è cchistu ccafè.

My name is Pasquale Cafiero
and I'm Brigadier of the prison
my name is Cafiero Pasquale
I'm in Poggioreale since the '53
and the hundred bolt
the evening I feel like a rag
fortunately at the special prison section
there is a brilliant man who speaks with me.
All day with four low-lifes
robbers, pimps, horned and lackey
at all time with this stinking people
spitting threat and who seize with me
but in the end I sit down papal
I unbutton and I read the newspaper
I counsel with Don Raffaè
he explains what I think and we drink' the coffee.
Ah, that nice coffee
only in jail they know how to make it
with the recipe that to Cicirinella
cellmate gave him his mothers.

Headlines twenty news
twenty injustices and the State what does it do
is dismayed, indignant, undertakes
then throws in the towel with great dignity.
I racks my brain, I wipe my forehead
fortunately, there is who answers me
to the man very selected and immense
I ask consent, to Don Raffaè.
A gentleman who has six children
asked a house and give him advice
Councillor God forgive him
inside a caravan is breeding mink.
You get just one move, a voice
because this `Christ lifts our cross.
With respect, now it's three o clock
do you want the orange juice or do you want the coffee?
Ah, that nice coffee
only in jail they know how to make it
with the recipe that to Cicirinella
cellmate gave him his mothers.
Ah, that nice coffee
only in jail they know how to make it
with the recipe that to Cicirinella
cellmate exactly as his mother's.

Here there is inflation, devaluation
and the stock exchange has it who he has it
I did not keep a compendium other than my salary
if it is lottery game if I dream dad
Add my daughter Innocenza
she wants an husband, she doesn't have patience
I do not ask for the grace for myself
do I shave you or do you do it by yourself?
You hold a camel coat
that at the maxi-trial made you the most beautiful,
a brown pinstripe suit
so it seemed on TV
for this wedding please Excellence
lend it to me to make good figure
I already take your shoe and the vest
do you like the Campari or like the coffee
Ah, that nice coffee
only in jail they know how to make it
with the recipe that to Cicirinella
cellmate gave him his mothers.
Ah, that nice coffee
only in jail they know how to make it
with the recipe that to Cicirinella
cellmate exactly as his mother's.

Here there is no room decor, the prisons of gold
but who has never seen them before, who knows
these are crumbling and smelling
they held immunity for themselves
Don Raffaè you politically
I swear it you would be a saint
but you have to pay inside here
and outside the others are celebrating.
By the way, I have a Brother
that since fifteen years is unemployed
he has taken fifty competitions for public employment
ninety applications and two hundred complaints
you give comfort and work
Your Eminence, I kiss you and I beg you
he is sleeping with mom and with me
wthat a cream of Arabia is this coffee.

Comments

Don Raffaè 'is a song written by Fabrizio De Andre', from the album "Nuvole (Clouds)", in 1990, very particular, since it is sung in Neapolitan. The song was also recorded, sung in duet with Roberto Murolo, which has included in his album "Ottanta voglia di cantare (Eighty ways I want to sing)" (1992). This feature is not 'still unusual for the artist's style, as it belongs to the period of the turning world of singer-songwriter. The song refers to the notorious Camorra boss Raffaele Cutolo, the founder of the New Organized Camorra, although this was officially denied by De Andre. "Don Raffaè'" is a collaboration of Fabrizio De Andre' with Massimo Bubola for the drafting of the text, with Mauro Pagani for writing the music. Memorable playing a song of the Genoese singer teamed up with Roberto Murolo, recorded at the concert on 1 May 1992. The song 'a burning and stinging denunciation of the illegal' homegrown prison in the '80s, with a specific and direct reference to the notorious Camorra boss Raffaele Cutolo, who ruled a huge criminal organizations while he was incarcerated. The power of the Camorra is evident from the fact that a jailer who should be the guard who controls the prison, is asking for help and support for Don Raffaè' lyrics, even dispensing compliments and asking favors and recommendations. Musical style = Tarantella *Presentation by MarcelloT *
