LIQUORE D’ARANCIA ROSSA SICILIANA

Ingredients

10 Arance Rosse di Sicilia (blood red oranges)
4 cups grain alcohol
2 1/4 lb. sugar
2 cloves
1 cinnamon stick
5 lemon leaves
4 cups water

How to make the Sicilian Red Orange Liqueur:

Zest the oranges. Place the zest, the cinnamon stick, the cloves and lemon leaves in a container with the 4 cups of grain alcohol. Seal hermetically.

Allow to sit for 20-25 days, shaking the container from time to time.

Prepare a syrup by bringing the water to a boil and adding the sugar. Allow to cool. Filter the alcohol infusion from the zest and spices. Add the syrup. Let rest for another two months.
