The centerpiece of this southern holiday region is
Castelfeder. The hilly fortress is fascinating and unique: a far-reaching
view into the Valley 'Etschtal' and over many historic events. The old wall
foundations speak about late-antiquity fortifications and a pre-historic
settlement. The sub-Mediterranean flora creates part of the atmosphere. A
magic attraction surrounds this legendary porphyry hill.
The village Auer made its name through numerous
events and specialty weeks. A gourmet festival is the wine tasting week in
October.
On the panoramic western slope, directly situated at
the Trudner Horn nature park, lies the idyllic village of Montan. This is
where the best Pinot Noir wines of South Tyrol are at home.
The picturesque village Neumarkt is known as a
popular destination of the South Tyrolean Lowlands. Manor-like houses with
beautiful courtyards and wonderfully re-developed arcades from the Middle
Ages are a stylish backdrop for a walk.
A special experience
• Find out more about the mysteries around the legendary
Castelfeder Hill …
• Have a break at the point where once the German poet Albrecht Dürer rested
his legs …
• After a hectic day, enjoy the warm evening sun just a little bit longer …
