Madonna di Campiglio winter leisure and recreation
To have fun in the mountains
In Madonna di Campiglio, Pinzolo and Val Rendena,
clothing shops range from classical fashion, haute
couture and young fashion to clothes which satisfy
any sportsmen’s needs. Handicraft is a very
important activity: there are objects carved on wood
or engraved on iron and copper, precious pottery,
exclusive items created by skilled decorators,
artists and creative professionals. Cuisine is the
icing on the cake with its numerous delicacy
corners, which offer salt titbits, such as salami -
garlic sausages are particularly tasty -, speck (raw
smoked ham) and local cheese, such as spressa (tasty
cheese), which you can alternate with sweet
dainties: carrot cakes, ricotta (kind of cottage
cheese) cakes and fregoloti shortcrust pastry,
chocolate specialties, strudel and wild berry
tarts. After a full day of intense physical
activity, you can enjoy a special evening meal in a mountain hut, that
can be reached by snowmobiles, or in one of the
restaurants of Madonna di Campiglio, Pinzolo and Val
Rendena, where you can taste local specialties,
such as polenta (corn pudding) with mushrooms,
spezzatino (stew), goulash, game, and other less
known flavors, proposed by some operators, who have
read recipes in an old cooking book scrupulously
kept by a wise old lady.
And if you want to consume dinner calories quickly,
you can take part in a torchlight ski down the
mountain. Alternatively, you can enjoy yourself
until late at night, or rather till next morning, in
the numerous and friendly rustic restaurants, bars,
restaurants and discotheques.
Do you want an option?
Just pick and choose. At aperitif time you can
stroll among the several bars and cafes that Madonna
di Campiglio offers to you, in a charming atmosphere
of wooden chalets and boutiques, which are even
envied by the more famous shops of Via Condotti in
Rome and Via Montenapoleone in Milan. Here, between
a piece of carrot cake and a glass of Trentino
sparkling wine, it is not very difficult to meet the
world’s most important people, as well as VIPs from
the world of sport and show business, culture and
art.
You can happen to meet a Formula 1 pilot,
arrived at Madonna di Campiglio in his Ferrari for
Wroom…let’s go racing! And after you have dined on
local food specialties and toasted by candlelight,
the night comes. A slalom in a discotheque is almost
compulsory when you are in Madonna di Campiglio. But
it has not to be always rock!
