La Magdeleine
WINTER
A charming and typical village, situated on the left hand side of
the Matterhorn Valley and surrounded by meadows and forests, La
Magdeleine tells you a lot of things about mountain traditions.
Sport
In addition to the beautiful landscape and the old
traditions, La Magdeleine gives you some opportunities for skiing,
too, thanks to 2 lift facilities, a nice cross-country track 6
kilometers long and an ice ring.
Classic and well known are the mountain skiing itineraries that
follow summer excursions routes as the ones that reach the Monte Zerbion
and the Col Portola.

Situated at 1644 meters above sea level, on the left hand
side of the valley, it has plenty of forests, pastures and
flowers all around. Till a couple of years ago only two
small paths connected this little area with the other
centers of the valley. Today the connections are very easy
so now the old routes are used just during the excursions.
Excursions
Beautiful pastures, rich in all kind of alpine
flowers, give a chance for everybody to enjoy the pleasure of a
walk just around the village where no strains or special athletics
are required. In addition, more usual routes, as the lake of Lod
or the Zerbion Mount and the Tantané Mount.
Tradition.
La Magdeleine represents an interesting example
of mountain town-planning organization. Actually its five small
villages have been built following the special rules of the local
wooden architecture combining great respect of human life and
nature necessities.
