Valsavarenche: let the nature take care of you

Do you know that the Gran Paradiso National Park was the first park created in Italy? Here you will find yourself in the heart of an area of 70,000 hectares.
So forget the frenzy of the city and dedicate yourself to yourself! You will, eventually, in a human dimension el’echelle: you can rediscover the link with nature and enjoy the Goit of life.
You’ll get all the Elements: ancient forests and beautiful landscapes, but more importantly, the example of animals that roam peacefully in the meadows, resting near a stream, play and run happily among the rocks.
Imitate them! Enjoy what nature has to offer, test your strength on trails to the summit of Gran Paradiso, play with the snow, just relax in the sun this way of life has more taste!


Valsavarenche: what a joy is life!

This narrow valley of 24 km is a paradise for nature lovers and all that is authentic, wild, human actual size.
Cross it completely around and admire you Cetes escarpments of the mountains, the torrents that crystallize in winter apparently becoming immobile, forests, green plains that become wonderful ski slopes skiing with the first frosts.
Come up ‘Bridge, at about 2000 meters above sea level, or the road ends and nature becomes the undisputed queen: in early spring and winter, one can easily observe troops ibex or chamois. In this locality, leaving the trails to the summit of one “4000” totally Italian: Gran Paradiso.
Try rock climbing, take a stroll along the various routes abstracted, as some passable by mountain bike, join shelters and stop to breathe between chamois, ibex, marmots and foxes. Enjoy the rare alpine flora. Use snowshoes or skins and venture e the discovery of this valley uncontaminated.
Push yourself to the houses of the king, used between the end of the nineteenth and the beginning of the twentieth century for the battered fighter House of Savoy.

Enjoy the picnic area Foncey for a break and admire the grand panorama and unique. Let yourself be fascinated by the architecture of rural villages and Nex Tignet with its waterfall, the frescoes of the little main street of Degioz by the parish church with its museum of sacred art and the steeple, by the many kilns chapels and present in different hamlets. Watch the monumental trees Well (training of wooded larches) and Degioz (arable sycamore) or water source of ferruginous waters Redheads.

If you like culture, visit the town museum ethnographic exhibition on the lynx in the center of the National Park or visit the library of the mountain. Rediscover the history Aosta Valley seeking, has Rovenaud, home of Emile Chanoux, one of the martyrs of the Resistance. Above all, savor the delights of traditional cuisine fricande (stew), venison, polenta concia, and rollion trifola sute. Do not lose in summer, baking bread, the traditional work of the dairy milk Rovenaud and craft fair.

A girl married a mountain valley that was frequently over the glacier to pluck genepy and hunt marmots. One day the husband never returned. Three days after she took her bag-a-back and went looking for him. She scrutinized the peaks and crevices, and finally found him: he was dead.
E ‘this time the’ poor wife, collapsed in pain, sat on a rock spur and complained all night e dawn his hair and eyelashes were covered by a veil of ice. “Lord,” said the girl, turning her eyes toward heaven, “I have not the heart to leave my husband, let me stay here so that I can always look for in a bed of ice eternal” . God took pity on her and converts it into the most beautiful flower in the Alps, the Edelweiss.

 The chapel Molère, whose original structure dates from the first half ‘of the seventeenth century, and’ entitled to Virgin of the Annunciation and St. Bernard, patron saint of the inhabitants of the Alps and mountaineers. It was rebuilt and enlarged in 1851, as a thank you when the country was saved from a dangerous avalanche. The chapel Fenille and ‘dedicated to Our Lady of Mercy’ and Santa Margherita. Dates back to 1633. But it was restructured in the centuries following. Inside, a valuable painting of the seventeenth century depicts the visit of the Virgin to St. Elizabeth.The date carved on the beam entrance of the Bois de Clin chapel dedicated to St. Francis and St. Urban and ‘1675, perhaps the same year the foundation. The building was more ‘times restored, the last action date back to 1973. Rovenaud and ‘the place where born January 9, 1906 Emile Chanoux, one of the most’ proud supporters of the autonomy Valdostan and hero of the Resistance. Captured, subjected to interrogation and torture, died ‘in prison May 19, 1944. The chapel and ‘dedicated to Santa Margherita and San Defendente and dates from the first half’ of 1600. Dedicated to St. John the Evangelist Chapel Creton dates back to around 1800. Dedicated to St. Anne’s Chapel and Bien ‘recently built (1964). The town retains many traditional buildings. Because of its high position and low population this winter, the village of Pont never had a real chapel. The present church dates from 1977 and is’ dedicated to Our Lady of the Peaks. Dedicated to Our Lady of Protection, Chapel Tignet keeps inside a strange head of John the Baptist in plaster.

 The first mention of a chapel dating back to 1296, but the parish was founded only in 1493 and still keeps the time the church bell. In 1673 was inaugurated the new parish church, along the tower (if you still see the traces on the wall). The present building, however, dates back to 1884: replace ‘the previous one, too wet and in need of repair. With a Latin cross plan, large proportions, and the church ‘dedicated to Our Lady of Mount Caramel and contains within sacred art objects. The bell tower, was isolated, ‘built in stone with mullioned windows and bay.
